This isn't your ordinary 'summer school.' Camp Miguel is a three-week program in July offered to San Miguel students preparing to enter grades six through eight. Though mornings are spent in the classroom, enrichment activities in math, reading, and social studies are presented in a fun and interactive manner, helping students to exercise their mind during the 'hot' summer months while not making them feel 'burned out.' To balance out the classroom time, afternoons take the boys around Rhode Island on trips to the beach, fishing, golfing, boating, and more. Camp Miguel keeps the San Miguel family close and connected-even when school's out for the summer!
Fifth-graders are welcomed into the San Miguel family during the school's annual Camp Readiness every August. During this two-week period, students are prepared to start school at San Miguel as they become acquainted with their new classmates, school policies, the San Miguel staff, and what it means to be a 'Miguel Man.' Camp Readiness is an important opportunity for the fifth-graders to begin to form relationships with one another and the first step in building ‘brotherhood' among students. Camp Readiness also incorporates fun afternoon field trips to Rhode Island locations, including the zoo at Roger Williams Park, Casey Farm in North Kingstown, and Button Hole golf course.
