Spotlight: The San Miguel Golf Team

The San Miguel Golf Team, now in its third year, had a successful spring season which included its first-ever golf match as the team continues to grow and flourish.

A total of 10 San Miguel students participated in golf this year, meeting every Monday in the fall and the spring for golf lessons and practice at Buttonhole in Providence. As the team grows in size and experience, our golfers are afforded new and exciting opportunities:

  • The third-year golfers showed off their progress and skills as they played in their first match against Community Prep this spring.
  • Buttonhole graduated three San Miguel students as caddies in its first-ever Caddy Class!
  • Our golfers took a field trip to Wannamoisett Country Club to watch the Northeast Amateur Golf Tournament with Golf Coach Jack Walsh.
  • Four San Miguel Golf Team members were asked by Buttonhole to volunteer at the CVS Caremark Charity Classic on Sunday, June 24, as standard bearers for the tournament.
  • Our Golf Team received a special gift from Board President Larry Hershoff—clubs and golf bags for each of our golfers!
  • The San Miguel Golf Team said goodbye to Coach Tim Rogers, who will be moving on to college in the fall. A special thank you and best wishes on his journey!

Thank you to Coach Marianne Allen, our Golf Team Moderator, for all of her hard work this year. The golfers are looking forward to another successful season in the fall!
